  • ¾ cup of dried elderberries
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • 1 ½ cinnamon sticks
  • 9 cloves
  • 1 ½ tablespoon of grated ginger
  • Honey added after strained to equal parts.
  • (you can add other herbs for taste and or added benefits as you desire.)
  • Echinacea, Schisandra berries, Cherry bark etc. about 1/8 cup

DIRECTIONS

  • In saucepan, combine all ingredients except honey.
  • Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat let cool so you can handle to strain making sure you squeeze all the good stuff out into your syrup base.
  • Measure what you have left after straining and add same amount of honey. (or veg. glycerin)   Take care not to heat the honey at too high of a temperature as it will lose it’s best qualities. Just warm enough to blend after you have strained.
  • Put in bottles and it keeps better and long in the refrigerator.  (aprox. 4-6 months)

Children 2 years and over take ½ tablespoon every hour at he beginning of any symptoms then reduce to 4 times a day during illness.

Younger than 2 only need 1 teaspoon.

Older Children and Adults use 1 Tablespoon.

*Remember do not give honey to children under age 1 year old!!! You can supplement with Vegetable Glycerin, Maple syrup, or other sugars.
